Adoption Process

At Windmill Animal Rescue, our mission is to create perfect matches between pets and their new families. If you're considering adopting a cat or another animal in need, we encourage you to spend time interacting with them. This helps both you and the animal get a sense of how they might fit into your home, and it also provides them with much-needed attention and companionship.

To ensure the best possible fit, we use a thorough application and approval process. For families with young children, we generally recommend that kittens be at least 9 months old.

To start the adoption process, please complete our online application below. If you prefer a .pdf form, email us at windmillanimalrescue@yahoo.com, or you can pick up a paper application at the shelter.

After submitting your application and meeting your potential new furry friend, please allow three days to one week for the board to review and approve your application. If the animal is in a private foster home, we’ll need your completed application before sharing the foster's contact information for a meet-and-greet.

Cats are microchipped, feline leukemia and FIV tested, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated medically as needed. Animals are housed at Windmill Feed & Pet or in foster homes until they are adopted.

All pairs that are not cats or kittens are same sex or altered. We are limited on capacity for the above pets.
